Not My Father´s Son

It is not often one reads a memoir so honest and well written as Not My Father’s Son. Physically and mentally abused by his father from a young age, Alan Cumming holds nothing back telling the story of his upbringing.

Approached by a television show to research a part of his family past, he starts to unravel a history that spans over generations and Continents.  As Cumming gains more insight to his family’s past, it starts affecting his life in ways he could never have imagined. Being an actor, he draws both strength and pain from his new discoveries. Not a single aspect of his personal life and career is left out for the reader to share.

Filled with humanity and pain, it is impossible not to get emotionally involved in the inner cathartic journey Cumming so honestly shares. It is a rarity to see one of the worlds great actors wear a face of normality.
